We make final head-coaching assignments by late January so that all team draft can be finished by mid-February. Assistant coaches will be assigned during the team draft. Not sure you have the time or talent? Feel free to contact anyone on our board for more details.
In order to work with the young ladies, you must complete four tasks. They are
1) Create a TeamSnap Coaches Record
It only takes a second to create a short coaches record in teamsnap. CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK..
This allows us to connect you to your team so you receive all information about schedules, the roster and all important communications.
2) Volunteer Coaching Background Check.
As always, we conduct background checks for all volunteer coaches. Annually, coaches must complete the borough’s background check process. There is a $16.90 charge. Follow the instructions at the following link.
3) Complete and/or Update your NAYS Coaching Training.
In addition to a completed background check, all coaches need to be certified via the NYSCA program. If you’ve completed this in the past, your NAYS card will include your membership number and expiration date. Your expiration date must be greater than August 1, 2021 to be valid for this season. If your membership is expired, you just need to renew your certification for the new season. It’s easy. Go to http://www.nays.org/coaches and follow their directions. Please send your proof of renewal via email to our player agent Dave Carver at DCarver262@AOL.com.
For new coaches, certification is accomplished by participating in the NYSCA Safety and SB training clinics. Complete information can be found at
Be sure to choose MADISON AREA BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL (768) as your specific chapter. Complete the online training programs pay your $20 annual fee and please include your proof of completion via an email to our player agent Dave Carver at dCarver262@aol.com
We'll expect that you have proof of your certification (the wallet card or printed email confirmation) in your possession on opening day.
4] CONCUSSION TRAINING
Madison requires all youth sports coaches to complete concussion training. This requirement may be completed at no charge in conjunction with your NAYS certification. A link to that training follows.
If you have already completed this requirement for softball or any other Madison youth sports program, there is NO need to repeat this training.
Finally, all softball coaches are responsible to model the NAYS behaviors.
Thanks for making our softball program a success.
